Clacton-on-Sea is the largest town and district in Essex. A seaside resort, it sees many tourists during the summer months. The Pier offers a host of fantastic family fun and is always a popular seaside destination boasting a variety of indoor and outdoor fun and activities. The main shopping area contains many of the more familiar national chains, independent stores as well as a wide range places to eat.

With its award-winning beaches and World-famous Pier, Southend-On-Sea has been a firm family favourite for many years. Adventure island theme park with various rides and rollercoasters, right next to the pier is must when visiting. There are also two shopping centres which are home to many of the high street names.
LOCAL CUISINE
Essex is bursting with fresh local produce from Colchester oysters, Southend Whitebait and Essex Whelks to Maldon Sea Salt. It is also home to John Wilkin, founder of the famous Wilkin and Sons Tiptree preserves. Jamie Oliver, the chef, restaurateur, and media personality was born in Essex and his family pub, The Cricketers in Clavering, is still going strong. Other eateries include the Bake House in Wivenhoe and the Lemon Tree in Colchester.
GETTING HERE
Essex is on London's doorstep and is served by an excellent rail network and local bus routes. The county has accessible travel links from all over the UK and Europe and is well served by major roads including the M25, M11 and A12. There are main-line rail links into London plus the international gateways at Stansted Airport, Southend Airport, Harwich International Port and London Cruise Terminal at Tilbury offer direct links to London Liverpool Street.
