The city of Gloucester offers a wide variety of fantastic attractions for everyone to enjoy, whether by day or night, rain or shine. Whilst visiting, a trip to the 11th century Gloucester Cathedral, is a must. In recent times it has been used to shoot scenes for the Harry Potter series of hit films and has featured in many other well-known TV programmes. Gloucester Docks and Gloucester Quays contain a series of converted warehouses and an array of restaurants and bars, very popular with locals and visitors.

Westonbirt Arboretum

Westonbirt Arboretum is about 3 miles southwest of the town of Tetbury. Managed by the Forestry Commission, it’s a perfect place for people to enjoy and learn about trees. Created during Victorian times, entrepreneur Robert Holford held a passion for plant collecting and around 15,000 trees from all over the globe now offer the perfect setting to escape, relax or have an adventure. Westonbirt Arboretum is truly one of the most beautiful tree gardens to be found anywhere in the world.

Bibury

Bibury is situated in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds on the River Coln, once described as 'the most beautiful village in the Cotswolds'. The village centres around a square near St. Mary's church derived from Saxon times. Some of the Saxon remains inside the church are replicas as the originals are housed in the British Museum. The main tourist spot of the village is Arlington Row, a group of ancient cottages with steeply pitched roofs dating back to the 16th Century, once thought to be an icon of England.

Gloucestershire’s lush areas of green fields provide perfect grazing for the local livestock, which provide quality milk for the county’s famous Double Gloucester cheese not to mention Stinking Bishop, a favourite of Wallace and Gromit! The Old Spot pig, which produces top quality pork chops, roasting joints and sausages. Home to HRH The Prince of Wales, one our country’s most vocal local food advocates. Famous local establishments in the area include The Old Butchers in Stow-in-the-Wold, Made by Bob in Cirencester and The Trouble House Inn near Tetbury.

By Air, The easiest airport for travelling to Gloucestershire & the Cotswolds is Birmingham, a 1-hour drive away. Of the two London airports the region is best accessed from Heathrow. The 65-mile drive should not take more than 90 minutes. Gatwick airport is 2 hours’ drive away. By Road, The M4 and M40 provide easy access to Gloucestershire & the Cotswolds from London and the South East. The M5 is a direct link to Birmingham, England's North Country and the Counties of Devon and Cornwall. By Bus, The main route to Gloucestershire & the Cotswolds from London starts at Victoria Coach Station. The main bus stations in Gloucestershire & the Cotswolds are at Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud. By Rail, There is a direct link from Heathrow Airport. Trains from London depart from Paddington Station and have a fastest journey time of 1hr 40 minutes to Gloucester.
