Banbury is a market town on the River Cherwell in northern Oxfordshire. The town is a bustling commercial and retail centre at the edge of the Cotswolds, with a primarily rural surrounding. Banbury is set amidst the gentle rolling hills in the north of the district. An impressive bronze statue of the “Fine Lady” from the famous “Ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross” rhyme is set close to the Banbury Cross. Other points of interest include the Market Place, the St Mary’s parish church, the atmospheric lanes and streets of the Old Town and the Castle Quay shopping mall with the town’s Museum set directly beside the Oxford Canal.

GETTING HERE

Oxfordshire is well connected by road, rail, river and cycle routes which link the county with major cities. Great Western Railways operates a regular service from London stopping at Didcot, Oxford and north through the county. Visitors arriving from London can take the coach service directly to Oxford. The best way to travel to Oxford is to use the park and ride.
